Klungkung Regent I Made Satria lays the first stone to mark the start of construction for the Biaung Integrated Waste Processing Facility in Nusa Penida, Monday (6/10/2025).

BNEWSID – The construction of the Biaung Integrated Waste Processing Facility (TPST) in Ped Village, Nusa Penida District, officially began with a groundbreaking ceremony led by Klungkung Regent I Made Satria on Monday (October 6, 2025). He was accompanied by the Head of the Klungkung Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlement Office (PUPRPKP), I Made Jati Laksana.

During his remarks, Regent Satria emphasized the importance of completing the project swiftly while maintaining high construction standards. He noted that the TPST would play a crucial role in improving waste management on the island.
“Work on this immediately and accelerate progress, but the quality must remain the top priority. Once the physical construction is completed, we will proceed with the installation of waste processing machinery. I want this TPST to be operational as soon as possible,” he stated.

The initiative follows the official closure of the Biaung Final Waste Disposal Site (TPA) by the Klungkung Regency Government. Since the closure, only residual waste has been permitted to enter the site. The new TPST project marks the local government’s continued efforts to implement a more modern and sustainable waste management system in Nusa Penida.

Head of the Klungkung PUPRPKP Office, I Made Jati Laksana, reported that the project carries a budget of IDR 14,396,698,430. The construction is being handled by PT Mirtada Sejahtera, with a scheduled completion time of 120 calendar days.

The groundbreaking ceremony was also attended by Chairwoman of the Klungkung Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP-PKK) Eva Satria and Nusa Penida Subdistrict Head Kadek Yoga Kusuma. (*)
